Braveheart 2.0: Why a Dundee girl became a right-wing symbol of resistance against immigrants in the UK

The Dundee girl’s story is now cast in the same template. Instead of English oppressors, the bogeyman is immigration. Instead of Mel Gibson bellowing “They may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!”, it is TikTok edits hailing a teenager as the “lioness” who would not bow. The state, once again, is painted as weak or complicit. The child becomes the vessel of resistance.
