    Doerner Fir on fire: One of world’s tallest trees burns from inside; 50 feet lost, cause unknown

    Oregon firefighters are fighting a fire inside the Doerner Fir. This coastal Douglas Fir is over 325 feet tall. The fire started on Saturday in Coos County. It is burning inside the tree trunk, high above the ground. Helicopter bucket drops have reduced fire activity. Sprinklers are set up at the base. The fire has caused visible damage.
